Debunked: GTA5 Gamestation Pre-Order Rumour

Earlier today, Gamerzines had received a tip-off from a reader stating that he had pre-ordered the much rumoured Grand Theft Auto 5 for the Xbox 360 at their local Gamestation. Since then, the rumour has caught the attention of many publicists and readers alike. One reader has contacted Thisiswiiu.com to inform us of why the pre-order slip is more than likely fake.
In an email sent to us just minutes ago, a Gamestation Assistant Manager has informed of us of some inconsistencies within the actual slip. You can read the email that was sent to us below.
“Hi there,
I just read on your site [thisiswiiu.com] about a possible pre-order leak for GTA5 from Gamestation. I happen to be an assistant manager at a Gamestation and I couldn’t help but notice some inconsistencies with the pre-order receipt and my experience and knowledge has taught me.
First things first, GTA5 has not been in our system at all. Ever. Why suddenly it would appear in one store is beyond me as it’s all hooked up to a server which spread through our entire network. I also checked back to the date the slip was saying [July 1st 2011] and again nothing was in the system relating to GTA5.
My second problem is the fact that pre-ordering is happening for the game. Normal procedure is that we collect data regarding interest levels and then we open up pre-orders once we hear more concrete information regarding any game. Since there’s been no info on the game, I don’t see why a pre-order has appeared on the system.
Next, the fact that no pre-order amount was paid. Again, from past experience, there’s also some monetary deposit required for a pre-order. The receipt for this pre-order clearly says £0.00.
What really gives it away is the fact that the game was so suddenly changed on the system. This, coupled with all of the information above, looks to me like a member of staff has purposely edited the data, printed out a receipt with a value of £0.00 (meaning the till totals wouldn’t look wrong) and then changed the data of the game back to its original condition.
Finally this my surprise you, but game retailers are normally some of the last to hear about upcoming game releases, especially for big titles like GTA5.
Hope this helps,
*****”
Whilst we can’t confirm any rumours, all of the above information does seem more plausible when you look at the receipt shown off. Whatever the conclusion of this rumour, I just hope we hear about GTA5 soon.
